A total of 185 patients—including 65 men and 120 women—formed the study group. The mean age ± SD of the population was 57.7±10.0 years (men, 57.4±10.9; women, 57.8±9.5). Thirty-nine patients (21.1%), 96 patients (51.9%), and 50 patients (27.0%) belonged to the age groups of 35-49 years, 50-64 years, and >65 years old, respectively.

Thirty eight patients (20.5%) were on one antihypertensive drug, while 147 patients (79.5%) were on two or more antihypertensives. The period of treatment varied from eight months to 25 years.

The pattern of blood pressure control in the subjects is shown in Table 1. The clinic SBP and DBP were controlled in 58 subjects (31.4%) of the patients, while 82 subjects (44.3%) of the patients had uncontrolled SBP and DBP. The proportion of the subjects with either SBP controlled only and DBP controlled only were eight (4.3%) and 37 (20%) respectively. The percentage of people with controlled hypertension was higher in men than women (Table 1). Table 2 shows that SBP control was less frequent than DBP (35.7% versus 51.4%), p<0.05. While the rate of DBP control was only marginally better than the rate of SBP control in men (47.7% versus 44.7%), the differential blood pressure control was more marked in women (53.3% versus 30.8%). canadian antibiotics
The mean age of the subjects, according to the blood pressure control, is shown in Table 3. A statistically significant difference was present between the mean ages of the subgroups of patients with only DBP-controlled (i.e., SBP uncontrolled) and only SBP-controlled (i.e., DBP uncontrolled) sugroup (66.7±7.4 versus 52.9±8.7), p<0.001. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean ages of the SBP- and DBP-controlled groups and SBP- and DBP-uncontrolled groups (p=0.5).
Figure 1. The Percentage of Treated Essential Hypertensives with Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure Control Grouped According to Three Different Age Ranges
Figure 1 shows the proportion of treated hypertensives with systolic and diastolic BP control grouped according to age. The clinic rate of SBP control became progressively lower as age increased, while the rate of DBP control improves with aging. antibiotics online pharmacy
